If you want to travel from Ipoh to Gurun in the Kuala Muda District of Kedah State in Malaysia, the easiest and quickest way to get there is to take one of the fast Electric Train Services (ETS) operated by KTM Berhad.
As Gurun is only a small stop on the West Coast Line, you will find that only the slightly slower (but cheaper) ETS Gold services operate on this route.
The duration of the train trip from Ipoh to Gurun is approximately two hours and 5 minutes.

****Please note: It is also now also possible to get to Gurun from Ipoh using the much cheaper KTM Komuter (commuter) train service as the
northern commuter (Komuter Utara) route has been extended to Ipoh. The journey is longer, but if you are on a budget or just want to travel at a different time, it is a good way to get to Gurun. First you have to take a Komuter train from Ipoh to Bukit Mertajam, then change onto another Komuter train to Gurun.
As the ETS Platinum trains do not stop at Gurun, you could take one of these trains to the nearby station of Sungai Petani, then take a KTM Komuter Train one stop to the north to Gurun. .
