The ETS Taiping to Johor Bahru train route is currently being upgraded between Gemas and JB Sentral. Until the upgrading work has been completed you will have to take two trains to get from Taiping to JB.
This is the route you will currently have to take to travel from Taiping to JB Sentral by train:

The first part of the journey is to take the newer ETS train from Taiping to Gemas railway station.
When you arrive at Gemas station, you will then have to transfer to one of the older diesel trains that run a shuttle service through Johor state and terminate at JB Sentral railway station.
All long-distance KTM train services now terminate at JB Sentral station and if you want to continue your journey across the border to Singapore you will have to take one of the JB to Singapore shuttle train services that take just 5 minutes to get to Woodlands station in Singapore.

holidays.

Another way of travelling from Taiping to Johor Bahru overland is to take a bus.
There are a few daily departures from either Simpang Taiping bus station or Kamunting bus station that can take you all the way to Larkin Bus Terminal in Johor Bahru.
The duration of the journey by bus from Taiping to JB is between 8 and 11 hours and is currently the cheapest way to travel to JB from Taiping.
