A much cheaper way to get to Ipoh from Sg Siput is to take a KTM Komuter Sungai Siput to Ipoh train rather than travelling on the more expensive and less frequent ETS train.
Since the KTM Komuter Utara (Northern Commuter) route has been extended to Ipoh, travel between these two places in Perak state is a whole lot easier.
The new KTM Komuter train route offers far more frequent departures, starting from the first train in the early hours of the morning, until the last train which leaves in the evening.

When travelling by KTM Komuter trains you may not always be able to get a seat as seating is on a first come, first served basis.
