It also serves as one of the eight stations on the SA City Line that links Phaya Thai Station to Suvarnabhumi Airport.

Makkasan is one of the SA City Line stations where many tourists choose to get off as it is conveniently located near some of the most popular tourist areas in Bangkok.

The Makkasan station is a huge three floor building which is far too big for its average passenger traffic and as a consequence, most of the time it looks shockingly empty!

By Train

Although you are very unlikely to use a train from Makkasan station, we have to mention that from there you can board a train running on the Thailand's Eastern Railway Line.

For most of its length the Airport Rail Link is running above and in parallel with the railway tracks used by the Eastern Line Trains.

The Asoke – Din Daeng intersection by Makkasan is also a level crossing and there is a train stop named: Asoke Train Stop (ที่หยุดรดอโศก).

On the Thai Railway Official Timetables this stop is simply named Asok (also written Asoke).

Makkasan Railway Station is located further west and is actually close by the Ratchprarop Airport Train Station.

From Asoke people can board or exit most of the Eastern Line Trains which make a quick stop.

Two timetables are posted: one for the Bangkok bound trains and one for the Eastern Thailand bound trains.

Here is the English translation of these timetables.

We have also added all the trains that stop at Asoke Train Stop even the ones which are not written on the posted timetables shown above.

Please note that we use the times as written on the official Eastern Line Timetable and that they can be a little bit different from the times shown at the Asoke Train Stop.
